Ruth qualified from the Liverpool Dental School in 1981 and was a practice owner for 33 years. She started training in the field of Facial Aesthetics in 2004, meeting Professor Bob Khanna for the first time in 2006, and was infected by his enthusiasm for the subject. She then went on to attend his full range of Facial Aesthetic courses at the Dr BK Institute in Reading, including the Supermasterclass. She is now a Senior Instructor at the Institute and assists Bob in his advanced courses, the team now referring to her as ‘part of the furniture’!

In 2014, having relocated home to North Yorkshire and about to go into retirement from dentistry, Ruth was invited by the partners at Dental Excellence at Harewood, near Leeds, to introduce  Facial Aesthetics into their prestigious new referral and teaching practice.

Ruth was a judge for the most recent FMC Facial Aesthetics Awards in London and is a Gold Member of IAAFA. In March she won a competition at ‘Aesthetic Medicine Live’ at Olympia, for best treatment plan on a 59 year old patient. She frequently lectures on the subject of facial aesthetics. Her most recent contribution was at the ‘Aesthetic Connections’ conference in Manchester where she gave a lecture entitled Facial Aesthetics for the progressive Dentist. Ruth will be lecturing at Dental Excellence at Harewood near Leeds on a variety of related topics in the near future, both to patients and clinicians.

Ruth has also been awarded Excellence rating with Save Face and due to this Dental Excellence is now an Excellence rated clinic. ‘Excellence at Excellence’!

Save Face is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority and so Ruth is now on their accredited register. This is recognised by the Department of Health, NHS, England, The CQC and Health Education England. It seeks to distinguish between healthcare and the wider beauty industry.

Ruth has an absolute passion for the subject and believes in the full face approach rather than ‘feature isolation’. She aims to improve the overall aesthetics of the face including the profile and aims for minimal recovery time, and greater safety by often using the more advanced techniques employing cannulae rather than needles, in many of her techniques. She believes that improvements to the face can enhance any dental work carried out to improve the smile and has a great part to play in dental practice. Ruth also treats TMDS (jaw joint) problems using splint therapy and Botulinum A toxin to help control dental pain.
